  • You are welcome to send another participant in your place- please email us with your name, and the name of the individual who will be taking your spot (s) in class, the date of the class, and your order confirmation number to transfer your registration.

    Cancellations must be made no later than seven days prior to class start time in order to receive a refund. To cancel you must email chefjoe@mysouthernish.com and include your name, ticket confirmation number, and the event date in your request.

  • Due to the hands-on nature of our classes, we purchase ingredients and prepare our space according to the number of registered guests. For this reason, missed classes without prior notice are not eligible for refunds or credits. If you’re unable to attend, we encourage you to contact us as early as possible.

  • Our capacity for public classes is small, in order to offer plenty of personalized instruction as well as space for our participants. Therefore we are unable to increase capacity for public classes or events.

  • Classes take place at our culinary studio at 209 Stephen Street in Downtown Lemont, unless otherwise noted on a special event page.

  • We do not have a private parking lot. Street parking is free in Downtown Lemont, and plenty of free public parking lots are only a few blocks away.

  • We are happy to make accommodations for dietary restrictions and allergies with a 48 hour advanced notice in writing via email to chefjoe@mysouthernish.com.

    Please include your full name, ticket confirmation number, and date of your class in in the advanced notice, however it may not be possible to adjust every menu we offer.

    Please reach out prior to booking if you are unsure whether a class will work for your needs!

    Cross Contamination: Please note that as a public recreational kitchen, we cannot guarantee there will be no cross-contact of ingredients. Please be advised that Southernish will not assume any liability for adverse reactions to food consumed.

    Allergen & Nutrition Disclaimer: Please be advised that our food may contain or come into contact with common allergens, such as wheat, dairy, eggs, soybeans, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, or shellfish. While we take steps to minimize risk and safely handle the foods that contain potential allergens, please be advised that cross contamination may occur, as factors beyond our reasonable control may alter the formulations of the food we serve, or manufacturers may change their formulations without our knowledge.   • In small groups, you’ll prepare a selection of dishes, then gather at a beautifully set communal table to savor the meal you’ve created—sharing good food, stories, and community!

    In hands-on classes, guests may not personally prepare every dish listed.

  • YES! After cooking, you will share the meal you have created at our beautifully set communal dining table. While we cannot guarantee leftovers, guests are welcome to take any un-eaten food home.

  • At this time, unfortunately not! We are working on it, but for now…

    Outside food, beverages, and alcohol may not be brought to Southernish. Alcohol is strictly prohibited; while a class may feature the use of alcohol in the cooking process, no alcohol may be consumed on the premises unless otherwise indicated. Southernish reserves the right to refuse entry or remove any participant at any time for reasons including, but not limited to, possession of outside food or alcohol, or visible impairment due to alcohol or other substances

  • Classes are hands-on, so you’ll want to dress comfortably for moving around the kitchen. Closed-toe shoes are required in class., and we highly recommend they be flats. Please avoid loose-fitting clothes that could get caught in equipment and wear minimal jewelry.

    Aprons will be provided in class, though you’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer!

  • YES! Please send us an email and we will get you registered.

  • Any classes appropriate for those under 18 years of age will be labeled as Kids classes or family friendly on the class schedule.
